Empowering Women, Embracing Hope

July 31, 2018

Dear Director,

You are all invited as our special guests to TREWO’s annual event: Empowering Women, Embracing Hope! Please join us on Sunday, September 23rd 2018 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Sagan Banquet Hall, Mississauga to attend our free symposium and lunch.

Our speakers at this event are Raheel Raza and Baldev Mutta.

Raheel Raza talks about ‘Breaking The Boundaries of Fear and Silence: The Struggle For Women’s Rights In South Asian Societies’, while the topic of Mr. Mutta’s talk is ‘Together We Can Make A Change’. (please see the attached flyer for additional details)

The Ripple Effect Wellness Organization or TREWO (www.trewo.org) is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2009 by Dr. Sudi Devanesen, recipient of the Order of Canada and Mr. Ravi Juneja, founding member of EIPROC, the East Indian Professional Residents of Canada.

  • TREWO’s mission is to create healthy communities through education. One of our main goals is to inspire change where it is most essential – at a personal level.

  • Think of it as a  ‘Ripple Effect’ – a drop of information that challenges the status quo and spreads in everwidening circles to make a positive influence and generate significant results.

  • Each year we hold a health and wellness symposium for women where we aim to empower, inspire and educate our guests through motivating talks by renowned speakers. This event is generously supported by TREWO and it’s sponsors. Tickets are donated to women’s shelters free of cost and a delicious buffet lunch is also served.

Violence against women is a global problem and the statistics behind domestic violence are shocking:

  • According to Battered Women’s Support Services, every 6 days a woman is killed in Canada by her intimate partner, 54% of girls aged between 15 and 19 experience sexual coercion in a dating relationship, 1 in 5 Canadian women experience some form of emotional or economic abuse in their intimate relationship and over 3000 women across Canada live in emergency shelters to escape abuse.

  • According to Statistics Canada, women experiencing violent victimization often rely on social services that exist outside of the formal criminal justice system.

  • In Canada, referrals to residential services and emergency shelters are among the most common referrals made by victim service providers.

It is time to lead and inspire change! We need to play an active role in making our communities a safer place for all.

You are working towards the same cause, your organization has made a remarkable imprint on the same path. We would like to work in partnership with you and seek your support in helping TREWO achieve its goals.

Please do attend our event and bring the women seeking refuge and assistance in your shelter to join us as well. If you need transportation to get to our venue, we are happy to provide a private bus free of cost, for a minimum of 10 people.

If you wish to register for this event, please let us know. You can reach us via your contact person or leave us a message at 1 888 646 2686 or email us at smitachandra@trewo.org

We thank you for your support in joining hands with us to create healthier communities.
